Winter

Silent are the trees blanketed by snow.
Quietly we watch the down crystals fall.
All is still save the angels dusting.

the bamboo chime is silent
water smooth as glass

heron stands morning watch as
sun warms snow-capped peaks

the dark part
of twilight,

as shoreline
fades to black
and Venus
appears,

we toast
"farewell
good sun -
welcome
kind moon."
